Sand is one of the most consumed natural resources in the world. It’s used in new construction and development projects in its raw form and serves as the basis for various products. The linked article barely scratches the surface of the severe problem that humanity is facing today as a result of our increased consumption of raw materials for construction, when compared to the natural regeneration rate of these materials. Given Israel’s small size, the state has every reason to encourage alternative solutions for raw material production, including sand, in order to guarantee continued growth and development. This strategy must undoubtedly emphasize the preservation of our precious resources, natural landscapes, and open spaces.
Recycled raw materials from urban mining can reduce mining and quarrying activities up to 20% and constitute a real and reliable reserve of raw materials for the construction industry.
