Post-War Reconstruction in Ukraine – Restoring Demolished Areas

This week, senior representatives of the GREENMIX Group, including the Group’s Chairman, visited Kyiv Region, Ukraine, at the invitation of the ruling party and the Governor of the Kyiv Region.

Despite the heartbreaking images and harrowing stories they encountered on the ground, our delegation was deeply moved to witness the resilience and unity of the Ukrainian people. Under a single national flag, we met citizens full of determination and purpose, and government leaders steadfast in their mission to rebuild their homeland.

As part of its commitment to global sustainability and reconstruction, GREENMIX will launch a pilot project in Ukraine focused on implementing circular economy principles in the construction and infrastructure sectors. The pilot includes the development of a state-of-the-art facility for recycling demolition waste, with an annual capacity of 500,000 tons.

This initiative will incorporate advanced solutions for demolishing complex and high-rise structures, and transforming waste into high-quality construction and paving materials — proving that recovery and sustainability can go hand in hand.

“A well-known Israeli company is ready to invest in establishing an ecological construction waste processing plant and to dismantle high-rise buildings destroyed during the fighting in the outskirts of Kyiv,”said Olena Shuliak, Chair of Ukraine's ruling party Servant of the People.

Following the intense battles in the Kyiv region, hundreds of structures were destroyed, and more than 2 million tons of construction waste have accumulated in the Bucha community alone. Local authorities are unable to cope with this challenge independently. With the support of Olena Shuliak, representatives from the Israeli company GREENMIX, which specializes in construction and demolition (C&D) waste recycling, arrived in Ukraine.

“I invited the company’s leadership to Bucha so our Israeli partners could witness firsthand the scale of destruction and assess the opportunity to process millions of tons of debris. This project could serve as the foundation for a new philosophy of construction waste recycling in Ukraine, with the war-torn Kyiv region becoming a national pilot,” Shuliak stated.

Through this project, construction waste will be transformed into building materials used to restore destroyed cities. This is cutting-edge technology — not yet implemented in Ukraine — and the roadmap for the project is now under development. The Israeli company is prepared to supply the necessary equipment and begin work in the Kyiv region.
