A Stunning Data Point from Our Colleagues in Ireland:
“The EPD shows that GREENSTONE has a carbon footprint of just 5% compared to that of virgin aggregate.”
While much of Europe and the U.S. have been speaking the language of carbon emissions for some time, Israel’s government and industry are now starting to catch up — albeit slightly behind the curve.
IMS – GREENSTONE, a company specializing in construction and demolition (C&D) waste recycling and the production of recycled aggregates, recently published an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its materials. The findings are crystal clear: recycled aggregates offer massive environmental benefits compared to materials sourced from quarrying and mining.
A 95% reduction in carbon footprint is not just a technical detail — it’s a game-changing opportunity for the construction sector.
As stated on the website of Israel’s National Planning Administration:
“The Administration is leading a working group focused on reducing emissions in the built environment, as part of the ‘Israel 2050’ vision to promote a thriving, low-carbon economy.”
Developing and scaling the construction recycling industry — and maximizing its full potential — should be considered a key milestone on Israel’s path toward that vision.
